A Prayer Worth Saying

"Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so I may honor you!"
Psalm 89:11
What a wonderfully simple prayer. The psalmist made heartfelt, earnest requests. He wanted God to teach him His ways and to give him purity of heart. Honorable requests. Examining the reasons for each of these requests exposes the psalmist's heart condition. He wanted to live according to God's truth, to honor God. In his requests and his reasoning for them, we see someone who loves God, who is God-centered.

God wants to bless us in the same way as this psalmist requests. We can always be open to God helping us to grow as believers, giving us opportunities to stretch ourselves spiritually, improving our obedience, and growing our understanding of Him. We should also want to live to bring God honor. We can pray this prayer and God will be faithful to answer. He will help you walk in His truth and he will grant you purity of heart. Commit your life to Christ, live for Him, and honor Him daily. He loves you! Yes, Y-O-U. It doesn't matter who you are or what you have done, He still loves you and desires you.

In His Love, Cathy
