Genuine People

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
Romans 12:10

I love hanging around people who are genuine - people who are real, who are down to earth, and who love God and others with a genuine love. To be around them is so refreshing and uplifting.

People who are genuine have no need to impress others. People who are genuine have no ulterior motives. People who are genuine don't put on airs nor are they arrogant. Genuine people are confident in who they are in Christ. Genuine people don't just act concerned about others, they ARE concerned about others. Genuine people are easy to talk to, are sought for their wisdom, and looked up to by others. People who are genuine are humble regardless of their success or position in life. Genuine people don't just talk what they believe, they live it!

When choosing friends, genuine people are the best kind of friend to have. That is why I am so blessed to not only have a husband who is genuine, but many, many friends who are genuine too.

Fakeness has no room in my life - I can see right through fake smiles and smooth words. In the words of Shania Twain - "That don't impress me much!" Cliques have no room in my life - if you don't want to be my friend because I'm not in your clique that's okay by me! I've got the 'bestest' friend anyone could have! Good ole boys have no room in my life - they usually end up in trouble sooner or later anyway! Who needs that? Not me!

Though I am to love all people as Christ does, and do try very hard to do so, I choose to surround myself with friends who are genuine. I need those in my life who can be honest with me. People with whom I can be completely open with. People whom I can trust and who can trust me. These are the people that I can be myself around, let my hair down, and relax. We are each others' encouragers. We are each others' help in times of trouble. We are each others' prayer warriors. We suffer together! We celebrate together! We are brothers and sisters together in Christ. We do life - together! That's what is so genuine!

I love hanging around genuine people. I guess that is why I love my church and church family so much!

Thank you, God, for the genuine people in my life! Help me to be genuine as well!

In His Love, Cathy

One of our core values at PCC is that "Believers should be authentic."

The reason for this core value is that it strikes at the core of pretense and encourages us to just be real.

For me, real people are 'safe people.'

Very good post.

Thank you:-) These thoughts struck me on my way home from work yesterday as I was reflecting over youth group Wednesday night, our friends at church, and my small group. These are what true Christ centered relationships should be like!

Cathy...your article about genuine people says it all for me. I try to live my life every single day surrounded by genuine people also. I am not interested in fake people. Thanks for your words of wisdom.
