"The LORD our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that He has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions." Deuteronomy 29:29
God has chosen not to reveal all things to us. There are some secrets He has withheld. Why? Maybe because they are too great for our finite minds to handle. After all, God is infinite and so is His knowledge. Maybe these secrets are things that we don't really need to know right now. Whatever the case may be, we are not accountable for the things God chose not to reveal to us.
Now let's switch gears. We are ACCOUNTABLE FOREVER for all that He has revealed to us. Not only are we accountable forever, but OUR CHILDREN are also! Jesus made His presence known to mankind once and for all when He walked upon this earth. Jesus Himself said, "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin." (John 15:22) The world is now without excuse, therefore ALL will be held accountable.
We must obey Christ's calling. We must teach our children so that they may know Him, love Him, and obediently follow Him! It's critical that we do!
