ROCK SOLID: What Your Child Learned in Church Today(March28)

Lesson Goal: The children will understand that they should learn from both the positive and negative examples of people in the Bible and from other people. They should use this knowledge to make better choices.

Main Point: I will learn from people in the Bible and from others!

Bible Story: King Belshazzar and the writing on the wall (Daniel 5).

Memory Verse: "Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life." Proverbs 19:20 NLT

We are still in Medieval Times, learning to be people of noble character! We learned today how learning from other people can help us out in all areas of our lives. We can look to people in the Bible for both good examples to follow and bad examples to avoid. The Bible is rich with stories of godly men and women, people who were obedient, trusted, and loved God. We can follow their example in our own lives. Likewise, we also see the consequences of those people who disobeyed and rebelled against God. We can also look at godly people in our lives as examples to follow.

In today's story from Daniel, Chapter 5, we see King Belshazzar. Belshazzar had seen the consequences that had befallen King Nebuchadnezzar when he became arrogant and proud. Yet Belshazzar didn't learn from Nebuchadnezzar's mistake. Read Daniel 5 with your child. Find out if Belshazzar could read the writing on the wall!

Training Up a Child Homework:
1. Have your child memorize Proverbs 19:20 and recite it to me next week for a reward.
2. Read Daniel 5 with your child, explaining to them how important right choices, wise decisions, and learning from other's examples are.

In His Love, Cathy
