"You displayed miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his people, for you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten. … They refused to obey and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they became stubborn and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt! But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them." —Nehemiah 9:10, 17
God never abandons His people. Even when God seems far away, He is there. Even when you don't understand why, He is there. Even when it seems there is no hope, HE IS THERE.
God never abandons His people. In fact, it is the other way around. His people abandon Him. We are so prone to forgetting what amazing things God has done for us in the past. All of history is a testimony to His goodness, forgiveness, mercy, and love FOR US. Yet when things don't go our way we get upset, not understanding why. Not realizing that Christ suffered and sacrificed far more for us than we could ever for Him. He suffered and understands our suffering. Therefore, we should not push Him away in tough times, but rely on His strength.
Feeling abandoned by God might mean that were need to fix something in our spiritual life. Sin builds up a wall between us and our LORD. It is our disobedience and stubborness that adds to this wall. But He is a God of forgiveness and we can seek to make things right by admitting our sins to Him and asking for forgiveness. We can trust in Him to always be there. Won't you do that today? God never abandons His people. God will never abandon you. He loves you!
In His Love, Cathy
