Memory Verse: "You too, be paitient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near." James 5:8
What we learned:Today, we learned the importance of having patience and perseverance, especially when it comes to doing the will of God. We examined the patience demonstrated by Noah, when asked to build an ark, carried out God's instructions despite the mockery of the people around him. It would have been easy for Noah to give up. What a tremendous task. But with faith and perseverance, he received what God had promised him. Christians with real faith do not give up because something is hard or takes a long time. Even children can be patient and work hard in doing the will of God to receive what He has promised.
TRAIN UP A CHILD HOMEWORK:
1. Memory Verse: Practice this verse several times with your child during the week. This will not only help them remember the verse, it will also help to reinforce what they learned during class.
2. Suggested Parent/Child Activity:This week, come up with a list of chores your child can do. Discuss what type of blessing or sense of accomplishment finishing each chore can bring. Which ones bring the most blessing or rewards, the hardest or the easiest chores? Challenge your child this week to complete each chore on the list, and promise them a special reward the end.
3. Suggested Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be patient and stand firm to do your will. Although the task may be difficult, boring, or messy, help me to not complain or become impatient. Let me be like your servant Noah, who did not give up, but carried on day and night through faith. Amen
