Be Holy

"You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy." Leviticus 19:2

What does it mean to be holy? According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, there are several applications of the word 'holy.'
1: exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness
2: divine
3: devoted entirely to the deity or the work of the deity

How can we be holy and live a holy life? Through complete immersion in the Lord and His will. Seek His guidance daily. Consistently make choices in our lives that honor Him. Give Him the credit. Worship Him wholeheartedly. Pray without ceasing. Bow before Him in prayer and submission. Trust in Him. Be faithful. Meditate on His Word. Listen for Him. Watch for Him. Obey Him. Live your life to bring Him glory. Love God and love others. Rely on His Spirit for help.

We are to be holy, to be set apart, different from nonbelievers. How can we draw others to Christ if there is no difference in the way we live and the way the world lives? We are to still reach out to the lost with Christ's love and the Good News, but without living like the world. We must live a holy life, but with humility, without being spiritual 'snobs' toward others. It's a delicate balance but God can help us. No, we can't be perfect all of the time. Yes, we'll make mistakes. But He'll forgive us when we ask. God knows your heart and He is there to help you live a holy life. Be holy for the Lord your God is holy!

In His Love, Cathy
