I have a secret super power. Do you know what it is? It's the power of invisibility! However, my super power only works under certain conditions, that's my weakness. Here's how it works. My power of invisibility is strongest in situations when I am not valued as a person by the people in a particular setting. It could be work, school, social settings, and yes, even as a member of particular churches. You see, I am not wealthy nor from a powerful family. I am not anyone of particular interest nor wise by the world's standards. I'm not beautiful, famous, nor overtly popular. I'm just not anyone the world would concern itself with. But you know what? I'm ok with my power of invisibility.
Do you ever feel invisible? You know the feeling you get when you are in a crowd of people and no one seems to notice you or speak to you. Have you ever experienced this? It can happen in churches, at work, in social situations, and even at home. I'm speaking of situations where you feel as though you are continuously ignored. Maybe you don't feel valued as a person by those in your surrounding. It's a feeling of being overlooked by others. It might be unintentional and often is. I think we all experience this to some degree at some point in time or another. It is at these times that you may also have this special super power of invisibility. If so, count it as a blessing! Why? Because we who are 'invisible' in the eyes of the world are excellent potential members for THE REAL "Justice League"...God's team. He uses invisible people just like us to do His great works!
"Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy. Instead, God chose things the world considered foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God."
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
You see, with the power of invisibility comes great responsibility. We are to point others to Christ, serve Him wholeheartedly, and allow ourselves to be used for the glory of God! When we are invisible to others, then they see right through us and see Christ working in us. By our invisibility, Christ is made clearly visible! For it is in our weakness that He is glorified! Hallelujah!
So the next time your power of invisibilty kicks in, ask God to show you how He may be glorified through you in that moment! Then obey. Show Christ's love and reach out to others.
Maybe I can use my super powers to make my "To Do" list disappear. Until next time, same Bat Time, same Bat channel.
In His Love, Cathy (aka Wonder Woman)
